Behavior Consequences

a) If you break one of the expectations the consequence will begin with

A reminder of the expectation, and a warning of the next consequence, removal from

game/activity, if the behavior continues.

b) If the behavior continues and they break the expectation again the student will

not be allowed to participate in the game or activity and will have to sit aside with a helper.

c) If the behavior continues to happen tell the student that they will have to

have a behavior chat after class.

Here is how that behavior chat will go

1) Remind the student of the behavior expectation

2) Ask the student what they did that went against that expectation

3) Have a conversation about why they went against the expectation. Ask why? Is

something bothering them either in class, at home, or in school? What makes this

expectation hard for them to follow? Is there something you can do to help them be able

to follow that expectation better?

3) Ask how they will act differently next time.

4) Remind them that if the behavior doesn’t stop, they will have to have another behavior

chat with you and their parent next time.

5) Make sure to tell them that they are loved and valued by you and God. Their behavior

doesn’t stop anyone from loving them. It’s because we love them that we want better for

them.

d) If the behavior happens again tell the student that they will have to

have a behavior chat after class with their parent/guardian.

Here is how that behavior chat will go

1) Inform the parent of what their child is doing that is breaking the expectation.

2) Follow all the steps in part C behavior chat with student allowing both student and

parent to be part of that conversation.

3) Ask the parents if they have any questions/concerns?

4) Remind both parent and student that if the behavior continues that the parent will

have to come to class with their child for the next class or two until behavior can be

resolved or worked on.

e) If the behavior continues even after a behavior chat with the parent, inform the student and parent

that

the parent will need to come to class with the student for the next class and possibly more

until the behavior is under control.

f) If the behavior continues to be a problem, even with a parent in the classroom then

a meeting will be set up with the classroom leader and/or staff, the parent, the student, and Pastor.
